If you think someone you know has experienced religion or belief discrimination, harassment or abuse, there are lots of ways in which you can support them.

Religion or belief discrimination is contrary to the Equality Act 2010 and the University's Dignity at Work and Study Policy.

Think

  • Are they in immediate danger?
  • Find a safe space.
  • Understand what religion or belief discrimination is and how it may affect someone.

Talk

  • Listen.
  • Encourage them to access support.
  • Speak to an member of staff for guidance if needed.

Report

  • Report and Support.
  • University Procedure.

What can you do?

If someone you know has been affected, you can encourage them to seek support. Alternatively, you can make an anonymous disclosure which will allow us to identify concerns and investigate where there may be multiple reports relating to the same issue or area.
